Traveling Circus: First Timers

This past weekend was a weekend of firsts, and I have photographic proof all of it was awesome.

On Saturday, I went into the hills of Azusa and shot the very first scene of a short film I’ve been working on for the past couple years. We finally made use of our crowdfunding and shot the intro of our little monster. Ever the budget-conscious producer, I went and grabbed 36 mini sandwiches for our crew for lunch. Usually, people go to Subway because they’re cheap and fast. I chose nicer sandwiches from much nicer people (shout out to Jimmy John’s in Azusa!) and the crew chowed down like champs.


It was also my first time seeing actual slushee drinks flavored like that old shaved ice concoction, Tiger’s Blood. Who knew I’d find a cool little gas station that had this? YUMTASTIC, according to all who tried it.


Since Rogue was visiting that weekend, Magneto and I decided to take her out for a healthy but fun dinner on Saturday. Who knew it would also be her first time trying Korean BBQ? Needless to say, the abundance of banchan and variety of flavors, textures, and ingredients made all of us quite happy.


After all the times Rogue has come to Los Angeles, she’s never made it to LACMA, so we took her there on Sunday. It was gorgeous, enlightening, and super fun. After seeing both the Ahmanson Building’s modern art and the Broad Contemporary Art Museum at LACMA, we settled in for a leisurely drink at Stark Bar.

After a weekend as jam-packed as this one, you might think I need a break. On the contrary, I’m gearing up for more!!!
